The Ingredients Experience at the Guinness Storehouse, which opened in March 2024, invites visitors on an immersive journey through the four natural ingredients — barley, water, hops, and yeast — that come together to create Guinness. When it came to yeast, there was an opportunity to dial up the magic. The refreshed Yeast Room adds a new layer of storytelling, one that brings visitors closer to the science and wonder behind Guinness’s unique strain of yeast; the heartbeat of every pint.

The magic

A living, breathing real-time system of yeast in liquid nitrogen; something as delicate as it is dynamic. The experience gives visitors the uncanny sensation of being underneath the microscope, where science becomes something you can see, sense, and almost touch.
A four‑projector mapping system and bespoke tracking setup flood the Yeast Room with texture and tactility. Underfoot and overhead, budding yeast cells come to life as digital liquid nitrogen swirls among them, inviting the curious to step closer, explore, and play. Sensors tracking the movement in the room allow visitors to gently shape the dance of the cells as they wander through. Look up, and mirrored ceilings give an otherworldly view, and the perfect selfie opportunity.
