FEEL THE PULL
To mark our 20th anniversary, we debuted a new light, art and audio installation at Clerkenwell Design Week. FEEL THE PULL took over the historic vaults of the Clerkenwell House of Detention, uniting digital innovation and historical architecture in an electrifying contrast.
The magic
Far from passive observation, you responded physically and emotively to its elemental pull. The installation draws you through interactive spaces where the art feels your presence – and vice versa.
Moving through an immersive soundscape, the visuals shaped by the presence of magnetic forces shift, pulse, push and pulled you deeper into the experience, encouraging you to come closer, let go and feel the pull.
We used a camera-based depth sensor that tracked visitor movement and placed their silhouette at the central point of Flux in the magnetic field. Standing back, the symmetry in the content holds. Moving towards the center, the geometry shifts, distorts and redirects with outward consequence. Proximity based sensors were places at opposing ends of the space, representing the force of opposing poles. As you approached, you shifted the density of the force, amplifying the inward pull or outward push.
The measurement
With over 4.5K visitors to the exhibition space, it became the most talked about experience at Clerkenwell Design Week. Visitors described it as hypnotic, fascinating and the most innovative experience they had seen. It was a testament to exactly the kind of experience we wanted to create, bringing a celebration of creative energy to our community.
